[ AF Carnival ] 7.19.2014

It's become sort of a tradition to go to the American Fork Carnival for Steele Days.  Drew loves the rides and roller coasters and we found out so does Cheyenne.  The grown ups, Bob, Doreen, Grant and I mainly like going there for a funnel cake.  Also our friends Dylan and his dad Jason Smith came with us.

We did have a minor glitch in the fun due to some discrimination against Cheyenne.  Cheyenne and Drew went on the huge carnival Jungle Gym 4 times with no problem. The 5th time the ticket person realized that she had a trach and denied her access.  All of us were pretty upset, especially because she had already gone 4 other times with no problem.  We felt the ticket attendant made assumptions by her looks and devices that it wasn't safe for her.  Even though she had proven to be able to do it.  She indicated that she was mostly afraid of other kids harming her, but we argued if that was the case she wouldn't be able to ever go to school or even a local playground.  We will follow up with the carnival owner to address the issue and educate on her condition to avoid future conflicts.
